Times Ocean Club House: A Masterpiece by Kris Lin

Art Meets Architecture in a Sculptural Exploration of Space

In the realm of architecture and design, the Times Ocean Club House stands as a testament to the transformative power of art. Designed by Kris Lin, this high-end residential clubhouse in Guangzhou, China, is a harmonious blend of natural inspiration and sculptural elegance.

The design of the Times Ocean Club House is rooted in the simplest elements of geometry: points, lines, and surfaces. Two points form a line, three lines form a surface, and these surfaces, when combined in various angles, create a three-dimensional space. This concept, inspired by the natural elements of the ocean and sand, is reflected in the flooring and the sculptural elements of the walls and corridors.

What sets this design apart is its core value: "The art of life, the life of art". Stripping away the superficial, the design seeks to return to the essence of life, to the values that truly matter. This philosophical approach to design is reflected in every detail, from the choice of materials - including notch wood, venge, oak, Persian wood, maple, and pear fluor-carbon paint - to the subtle hues of beige opalina, tundla grey, karibi, brown sugar, and volakas.

The design process was an exploration in 3D modeling, a departure from the traditional 2D approach. The result is a space that feels more like a sculpture, carefully carved and crafted from every angle. This innovative approach presented its own set of challenges, but the team, led by Kris Lin and Jiayu Yang, navigated these with aplomb, creating a design that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

The Times Ocean Club House is more than just a residential clubhouse; it is an art piece in itself, a space where residents can experience the beauty of art while enjoying leisure activities. The design was exhibited in Guangzhou, China, in January 2016 and has since garnered significant recognition, including the prestigious Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2017.

The Golden A' Design Award is granted to designs that are "marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting", reflecting the designer's prodigy and wisdom. These are venerated products and bright ideas that advance art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics. The Times Ocean Club House, with its unique blend of art and architecture, certainly fits this description.
